How commercial truck premiums are calculated
Commercial truck rates are built on a per-$1,000 rate that scales with the truck's value, multiplied by how many miles it covers and the experience of the driver. A 50,000-mile baseline is used for mileage, and drivers with under 3 years of experience pay the highest surcharge. Note that commercial policies also carry mandatory liability minimums far above personal auto insurance.
